Friday Favorites - "Random things in my house"

Do you have a pretty mug?  I have two, and a pitcher and am looking for an excuse to get a bowl.  Hughes Pottery in Pennsylvania is my sister's favorite potter and I can't say I blame her.  And did I mention they're having a 15% off sale at their etsy shop?

I have this Dragon Scale Mug, which apparently is now out of production so you should be jealous.

And this Oak and Acorn Mug, which was a Kickstarter reward and stunning.

While I may not be a knitter, my fiance is and I'm just looking for an excuse to buy him one of these.

And my little one loves her Renn Faire mug.

Featured Favorites Friday: Exploring Samhain on Storenvy

I've re-opened my shop on Storenvy and am excited about selling again!  For this Featured Favorites Friday I decided to take a look around the Storenvy marketplace and see what Samhain goodies I could find!

"Curiosity"
Hand Crafted by Kimberly Abbott

Check out this amazing Pendulum Board titled "Curiosity" by Kimberly Abbot of The Alluring Path.  I love the six color choices she has and I love the owl, especially her face.  The whole shop is full of lovely things, especially the Celtic Knot Pendulum Board and some beautiful scrying pendants.  Be sure to check her out!

Handmade Samhain Pillar Candle
From Artemis Secret Place

This candle from Artiemis Secret Place looks so witchy!  I love that it's scented with Witches Brew and that the maker uses eco-friendly soy wax.  This or the two candle set would add flare to any Samhain gathering.

Cemetery Seer Necklace
From The Bone Slums

How stunning is this piece from The Bone Slums?!!!  It's called the Cemetery Seer and the oracular witch in me is drawn very strongly to the stunning opening in this piece which is perfectly accented with dark brown cord and carnelian.  Every piece in the store is cruelty-free and sunning with organic beauty!

Remember The Ancestors Spell Kit

Last but not least, here's my Samhain offering for this year, a Candle Spell Kit to Remember the Ancestors.  Blessings to all of you this witches new year!

Giveaway! Featured Favorites Friday: Pillow Runes

Deity Diva Imbolg Goddess
I know I don't typically talk much about my daughter, mostly because I don't want her to hate me when she grows up and reads my blog, but I do have one.  She's amazingly cute, a tad precocious and claims Thor and the Goddess as hers.  Don't ask her to name her Goddess, though, because she'll tell you a different one every time.   Quite a while ago I was searching for something to be just as loved by her as the Thor Super Hero Squad figurine but that represented the Goddess.  Of course I searched around etsy and I found a lovely woman willing to trade for a beautiful purple stuffed Goddess doll, and it was a HUGE hit!
Elder Futhark Pillow Rune Set - Samhain

Today I'd like to introduce you all to this lovely crafter, Dana of By Land Sky and Sea.  Read a bit more about her below and then enter to win your very own set of Elder Futhark Pillow Runes by using the Rafflecopter form below.  You can also find her on facebook and her blog.

Q: What got you into your work here on etsy?
A: After the birth of my daughter in 2010 I was a stay at home mother until she turned 18 months. I was looking for a way to earn some extra income and came across Etsy through a mutual friend of my husband and I from high school. I haven't sold a whole lot since opening up last year, but the sales I have made mean a lot. It really is an incredible feeling to make something by hand that someone else feels is worth enough to buy.

Custom Handfasting Cord
Q: Which piece in your shop has the most meaning for you and/or is your favorite to make?
A: The answer to both of these is the same. It would definitely have to be any handfasting cord that I make, whether premade or custom. My husband and I were married in handfasting ceremony in 2010 and it's a tradition I fell in love with while researching ideas for ours. I love the meaning and symbolism behind it and whenever someone requests a custom order each one is always unique in their own way, from the color combination to beads and/or charms they wish to add.

Trick or Treat Halloween Bag

Q: Which is your favorite holiday and why?
A: This one is hard because it's a tie between Halloween and Christmas. I love the buildup to each, the decorations, the lights... Deciding on a costume every year for Halloween was fun and then running around the neighborhood collecting candy from everyone. With Christmas there is just this feeling of warmth and happiness that I wish we could all feel every day of the rest of the year. Because of this I am definitely one of those people who gets depressed after the holidays are over - though the sales on all the decorations for the next year help. lol

Deity Diva Yule/Christmas Goddess
Q: Where does your inspiration come from?
A: My mom was a huge crafter growing up so I got the crafty streak from her. I'm also inspired by other people and things I see around me. I'm always looking for things to make, but in my own way, with my own mark on it. And from paganism - finding useful, inexpensive ways to make things people need or want to celebrate their faith with.

Q: What inspired you to make the leap into children's items?
A: I was making some ornaments one afternoon and my daughter who is almost two kept picking them up to play with them and I realized, I have made nothing for her to play with. I can sew and crochet and craft but I have nothing for her yet. That's when I decided to not only make stuff for her but stuff to sell as well for children. Especially for those who are pagan and have children that they are raising pagan and want to include them more in rituals, etc. or just want them to have a symbol of their own.

Giveaway! Featured Favorites Friday: Papercut Cards and Gifts

Wiccan Rede Vinyl Wall Decal
Welcome back to Giveaway Featured Favorites!  Today I bring you the chance to win a beautiful piece of Paper Cut art from Paula of Arwen Designs.   This artist's unique illustration style is created with hand cut paper silhouettes, collage, ink, and digital art. Silhouette art has a long history in many cultures. From silhouette portraits popular in the 1700’s to traditional cut paper art in China and Poland, it is a beautiful art form using the contrast of dark and light, shadows and illumination.  Having clicked through all her links I must tell you that her OOAK Altered Art My Little Ponies are my absolute favorite!

Paula is offering one of my readers, worldwide, the chance to win ANY item from her etsy shop up to $10 in value.  Read through to the end and then use the Raffle-Copter form to enter.

Halloween greeting card
What got you into your work here on etsy?:
I was looking for a way to share and sell my art when I discovered Etsy. Although I have my own website for my illustration work, it's hard to get noticed and bring web traffic there. Etsy already has the traffic, and they make it easy to set up a shop and join their community. There are so many talented artists and creators on Etsy, I knew it was someplace I wanted to join!

Three Horse Greeting Cards
Where does your inspiration come from?:
My inspiration comes from everything around me, a walk in the woods, a ride on the subway, a good movie or book, or a vivid dream I've had. Sometimes its an instant thought or image jotted down on scraps of paper, which then evolves through a process of sketching with both pencil and an x-acto knife. When I'm illustrating a story or poem, I let the images come to me as I read it, then go back and pick the best ones to work on.

Post Apocalypse Valentine
Which piece in your shop has the most meaning for you?:
My favorite piece in my shop right now is my Post Apocalypse Valentine Card. I'm fascinated with Apocalyptic themes, and it was fun to come up with the imagery. I wrote the poem inside for my husband, so it has special meaning for me.

What's your favorite mythical animal and why?:
A unicorn and pegasus combined was something I always wished was real. I've always loved horses for their beauty, strength, and character. Both the unicorn and the pegasus are beautiful but fierce, solitary and magical.

You can find out more about Paula and see all her amazing works at her website, etsy shop, Cafepress Shop and her Artist Rising Gallery.  Or you can find all these links by clicking through the links in the Rafflecopter form below!  Oh, and as an aside, the MD Promotions Team is holding a Fall Into Autumn Sale and GIVEAWAY too?  You can enter here or here.

Featured Favorites Friday: Vintage Altar Pieces

I have a confession... It will surprise no one who knows me... I am a Stuff Witch.  I like magick, witchy and pagan stuff.  I like having options for any type of altar I could ever imagine using.  I like to be able to shift my space to maximize correspondences for any given working.  I like the shiny pretty things.  And I'm OK with this.  As a relatively green-minded earth-loving pagan, I really enjoy the opportunity to recycle or up-cycle beautiful objects instead of buying a new shiny something from my local pagan store.  Conveniently the etsy market-place is full of amazing vintage pieces, many of which are altar worthy.

Giveaway! Featured Favorites Friday: Hand-Crafted Pendulum

Today for you I have the honor to present a unique crafter of beautiful and personalized pendulums.  Brandy of Pendulums by Marlaina takes time and care in making magical tools designed with the witch in mind.
Pentacle Pendulum

Not only did I have a chance to ask Brandy some super fun questions, she has also been gracious enough to offer one of my lovely readers their choice of pendulum, including the 'Create Your Own' option.  Read through to the end and then use the Raffle-Copter form to enter.

Q: What is your favorite part of the Etsy selling experience?
A: My favorite part of the etsy selling experience for me is adding a new listing to my shop. Out of all the planning, the time it takes to create each piece etc. Its always exciting to see another item in my shop so that others can see and enjoy too.

Create Your Own Pendulum
Q: How does what you make support the Craft?
A: What I make and how it supports the craft: I make pendulums. I hand make them and try to make them unique and use natural, organic and handmade supplies. I feel that they heighten our spiritual growth. I'm a visual person and I need to be hit on the head with a brick to see that something isn't a coincidence. lol. So pendulums have helped me to communicate with my spirit guides, angels and have helped me through particular problems with clear and precise yes or no answers to my questions. Pendulums are a division of your subconsciousness and your likes/dislikes etc. That's why I was so excited to offer these unique pendulums. I offered the Design Your Own feature so you may pick and choose certain charms, fillers and pattern of the chain that your most drawn to, so that your pendulum can help you attune your spiritual and psychic ability. I also have the pre-made ones for everyday use.

Sodalite Pendulum
Q: What is your favorite Holiday?
A: My favorite holiday is Samhain. It always has been even since I was little. There is always a certain mystery and magic about it. The minute I wake up I know its Samhain because i can feel this certain energy and excitement going through me. Anything goes on this day. I feel closer to my ancestors. I always feel with Samhain I have time to enjoy this holiday and take time to decorate, participate in sabbats and rituals make traditional meals and take part in many of the festivities. I love the colors, sights and sound of the holiday.

Norse Rune Pendulum
Q: What's your favorite mythical animal?
A: I have a lot of favorite mythical animals and beings so I couldn't never choose just one. I love the mystery and magic of Dragons and will be putting out a dragon pendulum collection hopefully in the near future. I also love the beauty and playfulness of fairies and have a pendulum for a wish granting fairy and I'm excited to add more to that collection soon as well.

You can learn more about Brandy and her crafts through her facebook, twitter, pinterest, and etsy shop.  Oh, and enter the giveaway below:

Trio of Wooden Owl Beads
Q: What got you into your work here on etsy?
A: We had been urged onto the internet by friends and family; previously we had simply set up tables at our local flea market and at random local shows. We found Etsy to be pretty much perfect for us as an outlet for the things we make to find a home!

Q: What is your favorite part of the etsy selling experience?
A: The Etsy selling experience has been fun! We have shipped orders to France, the UK, Germany, Canada, Poland, and every region of the USA. We never would have reached these customers with a local shop! And being able to follow up, get feedback from your customers and answer any questions they have after the transaction lets you really connect with people as the the maker of the item and the user of the item.

Carnelian Nuggets with a Glassfilled Spiral Shell
Q: What's so important about what you make and how you choose to make it?
A: Ritual tools such as wands and personal stones, staffs and jewelry made with various semiprecious stones are not usually easily accessible. Even with the information age and the internet, it can be hard to find tools etc that are affordable. We mine the minerals we use ourselves whenever possible and harvest our own materials (wood, shed antlers, etc).  We are Eclectic and prefer not to label ourselves as belonging to any one Religious Group. We have deep spiritual connections to the Earth and Nature; we're shamanistic in our rituals and methods of thinking, and this comes through in the things that we make.

Carved Spiral Poplar Wand

Q: Which piece is your favorite to make?
A: I really enjoy making wands. Each piece is made from wood that I harvest myself with reverence and respect; each crystal is hand-picked for each particular wand. And carving, to me, really puts a piece of YOU into what you're making.

Phantom Crystal Triskellion Staff

Q: Which piece in your shop has the most meaning for you?

CLOSED Giveaway! Featured Favorites Friday: Aromatherapy from the Mountains

Essential Oils
This week I had the pleasure of checking in with the amazing Gretchen and Thomas of Adirondack Aromatherapy, one of the fantastic members of the Witches of Etsy team.  Aside from their products being beautiful, natural ingredients are very important to this pair of artisans.  Gretchen is a published author in the subject of alternative medicine and a Certified Aromatherapist in an National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy approved program.  Her 15+ years of education and experience is complimented by the 10+ years of experience her partner, Thomas, brings to the table.
All the oils at ADKAromatherapy are natural, completely derived from Mother Earth herself. I was not aware but there are many ’magical oils’ on the market are made in the laboratory.  Gretchen believes and I agree that these oils might smell good but there is nothing that connects you to the earth. For Gretchen, aromatherapy is really about bringing the sacred into everyday routines and connecting to the natural world with all the senses.  What a great philosophy!

This amazing pair is celebrating 1000 fans on facebook and two years of selling on etsy with a giveaway hosted here!  Read down to the bottom for a chance to win a $25 Gift Certificate to spend on soap, essential oils, amber and perfume oils, aromatherapy mists or whatever else strikes your fancy.  They even offer custom fragrances!  Best of luck!

Featured Favorites Friday: Spring is coming!!

Ladies and Gentlemen, spring is coming!  Part of me knows this because I see the clucking bunny that heralds the arrival of my favorite candy ever; part of me knows this because there are forsythias blooming here; part of me knows this because the energetic forces around my life are swinging closer and close to the balance of the equinox.  It's exciting!

It's also a time to consider focusing on bringing the fertile and abundant energy of the season into your life.  These cascarones from SandiEnchantedGarden are whimsical but powerful witch-crafted tools to help you do just that.

This Cauldron Spash from SpelledWithaW is just the thing to enhance the mood of your ritual space.  Her work is amazing, beautiful and aromatic and the witch-crafter her self is a joy to spend time with (had a blast a Sacred Space!)
What ritual space wouldn't be more complete with this beautiful quilt wall-hanging from EveryWitchWay.  The colors are amazing and the seller's craftsmanship is beautiful (I can attest to that personally).  She has patters for every Sabbat and I believe one could talk her into making you your very own (for a fair price).

Many thanks to all the fabulous witches who craft beautiful things!  Happy Ostara!
