The Witches Yuletide Ball Blog Party

*** Don't forget to enter the giveaway.  1 week left! ***

Welcome Blog Party People!  Many blessings to you and yours through this season and many thanks to Dana & Tenae for hosting.

My offering for you all this Solstice is as ritual: Winter's Night and Re-Birth of the Sun

Yule Elements Enchanted Witchery Candles

I take my time setting up the altar, making sure I have all four elements represented as well as the Divine Feminine and Masculine.  It's important to me to keep the spirit of the season so I will probably bring in some evergreens to scent the air.

The longest night begins and it with it, my ritual.

Fire and Air combine in the smoke of the pine scented incense.
Water and Earth combine in the salt water used to cleanse my space.
The circle is cast with welcome and thanks to the Powers of the Elements that will keep my sacred space safe.  Thanks and welcome are given to the God and Goddess who come to celebrate with me.

In the center is a singe white candle.  This simple candle is rife with symbolisim and meaning to me; it is the spark of divine present in each of us, the unknowing fear of our ancestors, the hope that faith brings, the promise of peace, a marker of the spaces between.  As the longest night begins this candle will hold vigil until the sun returns.

I give thanks for the year that has come before and express desires and plans for the year to come.  I ask my Goddess and God to sit with me and this small light through the long darkness.  I will take this time of darkness to journey within and look at my personal journey of faith and spirit; where I have been and where I wish to go.  I will keep vigil with the flame and the Divine as long as I can.

As the dawn of winter signals the end of the longest night I will give thanks to the little flame for keeping the way open, thanks for calling to the Sun.  With thanks and welcome I will ask the winter Sun to join my ritual and infuse his power into my humble white candle.  Each of my ritual candles will be extinguished and replaced and this little flame, which is now the Sun, will be used to start my candles of the new year.
Greeting the Sun: Lori Mackay
Hail and Welcome the Winter Sun!
